Poem: A Wedding Poem drunk sappy for Joe (2008.06.21)

20080621

"Ignore the spelling, its your wedding night" also known as "Drunken Sappy wedding poem for Joe"

Afloat in a sliver of aluminum on a
Quicksilver placid puddle
Mike's voice rang as if the only in the universe
as if nothing else had ever considered what is was
to have voice.

"Boys remember this moment, right now, time it moves,
so fast, before long you'll be grown"
The courtesy of my memory has trimmed out the
peripherial words, but a post was made
that morning in the blue curt sky of the sierras
for me to tie the streamers of time to:

the quadrunner, the night as underaged servers,
plates of bacon in monterey, hair gel and new kids on the block
in puff paint, there was soccer, water balloons and battery acid
missiles for Mike, baseball cards and Nintendo, pampas grass
b-b gun ambushes and Arlon's playboys that we dutifully
built a fort for in between sandy clays and scorpions,
the way joe grimaced as he told the baby sitter-
lemon half in his mouth that he enjoyed lemons right off the tree,
the awkward chuckle from picking up on Ms Lucans before
joe realized  she was to be our Sophomore enlgish teacher,
science camp - rat tails and Yvonne and Hofsteters long hobble
down to our cabin, powerpad, reverse psychology on James,
and of course friendship

But in the end the biggest tie
the flag to the
post is Jill
Under her banner
the other streamers swell and are now
organized and I see the trajectory
of your life-
- your lives and it is
a totality of our lives,
of happiness' and unwalked paths
whose trails are full of obstacles,
but ultimately progress, progression and love.

Lucky for Joe and Jillian I'm much better when a camera than a pen:
