Mt Diablo with Bohdi (2009.03.07)

Took one of my tenants out for a hike at Mt Diablo this weekend, just to show him that the outside world is still accessible from the urban world if you just plan a bit and put aside the time to do it. We took BART out to Pleasant Hill and then took the bike trails into Mt Diablo and hiked about 75% up the side of it after doing some running around in the wet bottom hills dappled with buckeye tress. We did a little foreaging; pine nuts, miners lettuce, dandelion, but unfortunately no mushrooms that I am familiar with enough to snack on.

Oakland's just over that hill. The big one on the right is Sibley Volcanic Park of the Oakland hills.

The view North From Mt Diablo. On a clear day you can see 180 miles
