Pacific Northwest Trip (2008.08.06)

So went up for Josh Farley's Wedding and since Arshi hadn't seen more than the cities of Seattle and Portland before, we spent some time on the road and saw a good swath of the Olypmic Peninsula, Mt. St. Helens and Silver Falls State park.
Some photos from the trip:

Silver Falls State Park, Middle Falls

Hoh Rainforest, Olympic Peninsula, Sword Ferns and Sitka

Moss covered Sitkas

Marymere Falls with cedar, Olympic Peninsula

Rocks in stream, olympic peninsula

Rock in Stream, olympic peninsula

Road to Hurrican Ridge, Olympic Peninsula

Black Tail deer buck, Hurricane Ridge, Olympic Peninsula...if I was only faster with the camera and didn't have to defend myself in moments with a tripod this could have been a fantastic shot...If I was able to get down more you would be able to see Vancouver island and the straights of Juan de Fuca in the distance. Oh well. Glad to not have antlers in me.

Mt St. Helens. She was even smoking a bit for us. Amazing that the lateral explosion happened only 30 years ago. There is so much life growing back up around it.

Thimble Berries - the tastiest treat you'll ever come across in wet west coast forests. You can find them from Big Sur upto Alaska
