Birds and Such of Lake Merritt (2007.11.11)

Actually shot these last weekend, when I had some spare time. Just a couple birds from the best dam drain pipe lake in the world; Lake Merritt, Oakland, CA.


These are Coots. They are aggressive little buggers that seem to really enjoy nipping each other


This is a green heron. He looks like a crotchety old man

Crotchety old men have red eyes.

This is a red eyed Greebe. go figure


I feel bad every time I see one of these brown pelicans take a giant mouth full of Lake Merritt...some how they all seem to survive or fly some place else to die
