Poem: Between Ebbetts Pass and Carson Pass (2008.08.13)

2008.08.13 1am
Between Ebbetts Pass and Carson Pass

In the Sierra, gravel zen gardens
Are raked by the recesses of the snow
Wind washes the land dry
While the sun soaks the landscape with radiation
Photosynthetic machines
Thrive and die
And we merely pass through
We pass through like a
Bullet through a balloon
And in the night
In the hiss of wind
Incomprehensible lights
Pierce this sphere
Bullets see their bang
