Poem: Napkin notes from Sarah Duke Wedding (2006.07.15)

napkin notes from the wedding I shot this weekend.
2006.07.15 Sara Duke Wedding Poem

Sweet Summers heat
bathed in cool Moke air
between nines and fours
a wedding is forged
Between the blades-
green with life and expectation
children dance
petals fall and forever ores
Exchanged
the sun blisters out all around this
oasis of life, but no one notices
eyes to intent to share the happiness,
the beauty of joined birth.
I too am involved in this imaging of life
I choose, I capture, present
memory or my memory of mements
momentus and gone
Forever
but produced forever
in the tables, the glasses
I count families, lovers
life in the wine drops of table clothes
And the past sneaks up
in a handshake, in a walk
in contours of flesh and face and eyes-
I see my past that is no longer mine
yet tangential to me
to this moment.
We share childhoods
And this instant with so much between
Distant
but inconsequential.
